Prize for “Research driver in the field of particle-based processing and sintering”

Apl. Prof. Martin Bram received the Skaupy award 2024 from the German Gemeinschaftsausschuss Pulvermetallurgie. With the award, the committee honored his “outstanding work in research and industry in the field of powder metallurgy”. Prof. Bram is group leader at the Jülich Institute of Energy Materials and Devices, Department of Materials Synthesis and Manufacturing Processes (IMD-2).

The award recognizes Prof. Bram “as one of the research drivers in the field of powder technology of metallic and ceramic powders as well as sintering”. The materials scientist's interests cover a wide range of applications from powder metallurgy in the energy sector, e.g. for electrolysis cells and solid-state batteries, to biomedical implants and modern, efficient sintering methods. A particular focus is the transfer of fundamental knowledge to the production of real components in close cooperation with the industry.

The SKAUPY Prize goes back to the Viennese Franz Skaupy, who became famous in the 1920s with his fundamental research work on powder metallurgy in the hard metal sector and in particular on the metal tungsten.
