Neuroscience in the Annual Exhibition of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts
In the exhibition "Überzeichnung" ("Overdrawing") at the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts, exhibits from current brain research as well as from the historical collections of the Cécile and Oskar Vogt Archive are currently on display.
The Academy’s annual exhibition deals with the medium of drawing in science and art. The Cécile and Oskar Vogt Institute for Brain Research contributed historical brain mappings by Oskar Vogt, today’s three-dimensional atlas mappings, and automated cell labeling using the AI-based method CellDetection developed there.

The exhibition can be viewed until December 12 in the Academy’s building (Palmenstraße 16, 40217 Düsseldorf) and is accessible through guided tours and events. As part of the accompanying program, Institute Director Prof. Katrin Amunts will give a lecture on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, followed by a discussion with media theorist Prof. Siegfried Zielinski and writer Marion Poschmann. The evening will take place under the theme ” "Zwischen Bild und Sprache - Denken in der telematischen Gesellschaft” ("Between Image and Language – Thinking in the Telematic Society”).
