Testing patients with brain damage with tailored experimental paradigms and neuropsychological test batteries yields crucial insights into the role of different brain regions for cognitive processing and at the same time provides a means of validating results from imaging studies in healthy participants. A better understanding of neuropsychological deficits may then help to develop novel treatment strategies.
