New European Platform for Research into Soft Matter
May 9, 2011
Forschungszentrum Jülich has been coordinating the new “European Soft Matter Infrastructure” network (ESMI) since January 2011. In this network, 17 European partners pool their infrastructure for studying soft matter, and make it available as a platform for other researchers within the EU free of charge – to conduct experiments, to develop new systems and materials and to use existing supercomputers. Additional goals are to further improve the infrastructure by means of joint research, and to train young scientists. The European Commission is funding this project with a total of € 7.8 up to the end of 2014. ESMI is coordinated by Prof. Jan K. G. Dhont from the Institute of Complex Systems (ICS).
