Dr. Elena Doering receives research funding from the Brandau-Laibach Foundation
As part of the funding from the Brandau-Laibach Foundation, the project to estimate different "Brain Age Gaps" (BAG) will be supported with EUR 26,500 for the years 2025/26. The aim of the project is to use new AI models to identify specific regional patterns of accelerated brain age in various forms of dementia. This could help to distinguish neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and frontotemporal dementia more precisely and detect them at an earlier stage. The project is being carried out by Dr. Elena Doering (project leader), Prof. Dr. Thilo van Eimeren and Prof. Dr. Alexander Drzezga (co-leader) from the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-2) at Research Center Jülich and Department of Nuclear Medicine at Cologne University Hospital. The results could make an important contribution to the differentiated diagnosis and treatment of dementia.
