Meteorology

The meteorology department operates a weather and climate station with a complex data acquisition system mounted on a 124 m high weather tower. This station operates as part of the environmental monitoring of the research center's nuclear facilities. In addition, the station is integrated into the climate monitoring network of the German Weather Service (DWD). Various scientific institutes within the research center frequently use the meteorological measurements. Furthermore, measurement data are shared with universities, authorities, industry or private individuals. The weather tower is also used by external institutes as a platform for scientific experiments in the scope of collaborations.

About
The meteorology department operates a weather and climate station with a complex data acquisition system mounted on a 124 m high weather tower. The main task of the station comprises the continuous recording of the present weather situation and atmospheric dispersion conditions as part of the environmental monitoring of the research center's nuclear facilities. The measurement program for immission monitoring practiced at Jülich is based on the "Guideline for Emission and Immission Monitoring" (REI).
