Gamma spectrometry
About
Equipment
The gamma spectrometry laboratory has several low-level measuring stations for the highly sensitive, nuclide-specific detection of radioactivity in a wide variety of samples. The achievable detection limits depend on the measurement time and the sample geometry. Typical values for the detection limit of Co-60 at a measurement time of 15 hours are 0.05 Bq for a flat geometry (diameter 6 cm) and 0.3 Bq for a ring bowl (content 1 l).
Tasks and services
The main focus of the investigations is on routine measurements of environmental samples such as dust filters, precipitation, surface and ground water, soil, grass and milk, which are carried out as part of the immission monitoring of the nuclear facilities of the research center. Another focus is on measurements within the framework of emission monitoring and contamination control.
In addition, we also carry out investigations for external clients.
