Abstract: Storage class memory is receiving increasing attention for use in HPC systems for the acceleration of intensive IO operations. We report on a number of scenarios in which Blue Gene Active Storage (BGAS) and similar technologies are being explored at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, and that can be used to improve IO intensive workloads and address the demand for increased memory footprint and bandwidth.
