Institute of Complex Systems officially opened
May 10, 2011
Research at the Interface between Physics, Chemistry and Biology
The official opening of the Institute of Complex Systems (ICS) on 4 May was marked by a colloquium. Research priorities at the institute are living cells, biomolecules and "soft matter", which determines the material properties of, for example, paints or rubber mixtures.
ICS is a member of the newly founded network "European Soft Matter Infrastructure" (ESMI). The European Commission is funding this project with a total of € 7.8 up to the end of 2014. ESMI is coordinated by Prof. Jan K. G. Dhont, head of ICS-3.
