Urban Climate under Change [UC]2

"Urban Climate Change" [UC]² is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The aim is the development of a city climate model, which is supposed to solve atmospheric processes at building-resolved resolution, with mesh widths of 10 m or finer. The funding measure started on June 1st, 2016. From 2019 the project is in its second phase, in which the PALM-4U is validated and further developed

The project splits into three modules and 25 subprojects.

The institute contributes with mobile measurements with the mobile laboratory MOBILAB and simulations to the module 3DO+M on the evaluation and application of PALM4U.

Semiconductor probes from IASS in Potsdam are attached at MOBILAB
Intercomparison with bicycle measurements of University Stuttgart
NOx mixing ratios
NOx mixing ratios simulated for Berlin at 5m above ground for 2018/07/07 at 10m spatial resolution. The simulation was run at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC)
