Sci & Hike Retreat in October

The second PhD retreat of 2024, the "Sci & Hike Retreat", took place from October 28th to 30th at the Dorint Hotel Düren. Participating PhD students had the opportunity to present their research in a 15-minute talk to their colleagues. Each presentation was followed by an often lively discussion, as is customary at a scientific conference, during which the audience was invited to ask questions of the speaker.

The topics covered the entire spectrum of research at IET-1. In the various presentations, the participants learned about new types of energy materials, the adsorption behavior of various gases on carbon fibers, the investigation of component and material degradation in PEM electrolysis, new findings in electrocatalysis, and several other topics. After each session, the PhD students discussed their results and scientific goals with the head of the institute, Prof. Eichel, and their supervisors. During the breaks, the Dorint Hotel provided us with snacks and lunch as well as spacious rooms for mobile working, socializing or simply relaxing.
