Microscopy & Diffraction

The focus topic “Microscopy and Diffraction” uses advanced methods of electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, and X-ray diffraction and tomography. Our goal is to elucidate the contributions of microstructure and phase formation, crystal orientation, and functional interfaces and their respective chemistry to electrochemical processes in energy materials. In particular, we emphasize correlative measurements of different microscopic and spectroscopic methods to obtain complementary information from identical samples. To achieve this, we are a diverse team with a wide range of expertise, employees from different disciplines and different cultural backgrounds with the common goal of taking our understanding of energy materials to the next level. To reach our goal, we cooperate intensively with the other departments of IET-1, as well as in national and international projects.
