DURALYS is a collaboration between German and Italian academic and industrial partners, funded by the research ministries of both countries. This ambitious project aims to develop the next generation of anion exchange membrane electrolyzers (AEMELs), a technology that combines high performance with low costs and abundant raw materials. To achieve this goal, DURALYS aims to further develop the entire value chain of AEMELs, from the synthesis of novel electrocatalysts and membranes to the integration of components into a commercially viable AEMEL prototype. Material and cell development are supported by a range of analytical methods and modeling techniques that enable both fundamental research on the materials involved and address practical shortcomings of state-of-the-art technologies in terms of performance and durability.
