Professor Wolfgang Zeier Honoured with IBA Early Career Award

Outstanding research contributions at an early stage of career recognised

Professor Wolfgang Zeier mit IBA Early Career Award ausgezeichnet

09 November 2022 – Even at an early stage in his career, Professor Wolfgang Zeier could demonstrate outstanding contributions in research on electrochemical energy conversion and storage.

Internationally Coveted Award

For his achievements within the first ten years after his doctorate, the battery researcher has now been honoured with the IBA Early Career Award. The award was presented to him by the IBA (International Battery Materials Association) during the IBA Meeting on 5 October 2022. The internationally coveted award is endowed with 2,000 dollars and includes a plaque and a lecture during the IBA meeting.

Focus on Solid-state Batteries

Zeier is Professor for Inorganic Solid State Chemistry at WWU Münster and Head of Department at Helmholtz Institute Münster (HI MS; IEK-12) of Forschungszentrum Jülich. The chemist has been researching fundamental structure-property relationships of functional materials for more than ten years. His focus is on thermoelectric and ion-conducting compounds and their use in solid-state batteries.

More information on Zeier's research focus at HI MS can be found here, information on the IBA awards can be found here.
