EPI-SGA1/2: Co-designing the Rhea chip - JSC’s contributions & Lessons learned

Abstact:

Processor supply is a critical issue in the EU today. Developing high-performance processors in the EU is urging to secure the successful deployment of future EU world-class supercomputers. Launched in 2019, the EPI project, involving 27 partners across the EU, aims to develop a roadmap for a new family of low-power European-designed processors. The talk presents an overview of the EPI project, explaining the important roles of modeling and benchmarking in the co-design evaluation process used to tackle the complexities of chip design. In addition, it highlights lessons learned from the modeling development and the co-design results, along with ongoing works, with a focus on JSC's contributions to co-designing the Rhea chip.
