Strong-Coupling Lattice QCD on D-Wave
Quantum Computing Category: Quantum Simulation
Scientific Domain: Particle Physics / Lattice Gauge Theory

This project investigates whether a quantum annealer can contribute to importance sampling for lattice gauge theories. Building on earlier work at strong coupling, the study uses a D-Wave quantum annealer to generate histograms for sublattices of U(3) gauge theory and combines these results with a Metropolis–Hastings procedure to obtain thermodynamic observables on larger two- and four-dimensional lattices. The results are benchmarked against classical Monte Carlo simulations, exploring a hybrid route toward larger-volume lattice-QCD calculations.
