Welcoming Luca from the University of Turin to Our Institute

Since March, our institute has had the pleasure of hosting Luca Castellani, a student from the University of Turin (Italy), through the Erasmus+ traineeship programme. This EU initiative gives students and recent graduates the chance to gain hands-on professional experience abroad, develop new skills, and immerse themselves in different cultures.
During his stay, Luca worked under the supervision of Dennis Nielinger in our quantum computing team, focusing on the topic “Cryogenic Process Design Kit for a CMOS 28nm bulk technology.” As part of his project, he also operated our Attodry800 cryostat system, making important contributions to our research efforts.
Beyond his technical achievements, it was truly fun to have Luca with us. His friendly, open-minded, and warm personality made him a wonderful colleague and a great addition to the team. It was easy and enjoyable to work with him — he brought not only fresh ideas but also a very positive energy that we all appreciated.
The Erasmus+ programme supports such traineeships for periods ranging from two to twelve months, helping students like Luca develop entrepreneurial, creative, and intercultural skills that are highly sought after by employers. For us as a host institute, it’s also a fantastic way to gain new perspectives, strengthen international ties, and foster collaboration across Europe.
We thank Luca for his dedication and the many good moments we shared over the past months. We wish him all the best for his future, both professionally and personally. Welcoming Erasmus+ trainees like Luca enriches our institute in many ways, and we look forward to continuing this inspiring exchange.
Grazie di cuore, Luca, e tanti auguri per tutto!
