Cryogenics is a fundamental requirement for quantum technologies and essential to their ecosystem. Yet there are currently no training programmes specifically focused on the technique of generating and using the ultra-low temperatures needed for quantum technologies. A German cryogenics course programme, "German Course of Cryogenics (GCC)", is to be designed, organised and coordinated at the Research Centre Jülich (FZJ) by the cryogenics engineering laboratory "CryoLab". With lectures, practice-oriented seminars and multimedia material, the programme is dedicated to the training of specialists and thus also provides impetus for the development of the cryogenics industry in Germany. The programme should cover the fundamentals of cryogenics, material properties, design, manufacture, operation and troubleshooting in cryogenics and vacuum technology in a modular way. The courses can be used to train specialists across the entire range of needs of technicians, engineers (design, operation, sales, service, etc.) and scientists.
