ProcessNet Subject Division Energy Process Engineering
The Subject Division works on process engineering issues in the context of a sustainable and low-carbon energy supply. These issues range from power plant engineering to the use of renewable energy and its integration into the power and gas system. This demonstrates the strongly interdisciplinary character of this Subject Division.
The division’s focus is on process engineering issues relating to energy conversion and energy storage. Typical areas include the conversion of electricity, biomass, and residues into storable, higher-value, or mechanical energy. This includes power-to-gas and hydrogen technologies as well as optimizing the operation management and economic viability of energy plants. Scenarios for the potential structure of a future energy supply are discussed within the division.
