Fuel gas generation for fuel cell systems
The scientific and technical core areas of expertise are hydrogen production and synthesis gas purification for the provision of fuel gas for fuel cell systems as well as system design and system testing of complete fuel cell systems. To this end, reforming and gas purification processes for various energy sources such as middle distillates, in particular for kerosene and diesel and for diesel-like biofuels, are investigated experimentally, described using process engineering and chemical models and implemented in technical reactors.
Liquid fuels with a high energy density will also be required in the long term in aviation and shipping as well as for heavy commercial vehicles. As part of the power-to-fuel concept, liquid fuels are produced from sustainably produced hydrogen and CO2. The methods mentioned above are also used in fuel synthesis.
