Dr. Ernst-Arndt Reinecke

Head of department Safety Research
Dr. Ernst-Arndt Reinecke heads the “Safety Research” department at IEK-14.
After receiving his PhD from RWTH Aachen University in 1999, he continued his research on catalytic hydrogen recombiners as a Helmholtz junior scientist at Forschungszentrum Jülich in the field of nuclear safety research, since 2002 as team leader “Hydrogen Safety”. In 2017, he became head of the “Safety Research” department at IEK-6, which deals with scientific issues related to containment phenomena and processes in severe accidents in light water reactors. In his professional career, Dr. Reinecke has been involved in numerous national and international projects in reactor and hydrogen safety research. He represented the Research Center as a founding member of the International Association HySafe in 2009 and has been a member of the European Hydrogen Safety Panel of the European Clean Hydrogen Partnership since 2018.
