Research Interests
Prof. N. Jon Shah is an expert in medical imaging concentrating, primarily, on MRI and hybrid MR-PET instrumentation. He is responsible for a programme of research spanning a range of activities from the basic conception and design of new MRI and MR-PET methodology through to its implementation and application to probe current issues in neuroscience.
Current research areas:
• Development of MRI imaging sequences, specialized for neuroscientific applications in the field of structural and functional brain imaging, e.g. ultra fast MRI, diffusion tensor imaging and high contrast, high-resolution MRT
• Methodological development of quantitative in vivo imaging and image processing of quantitative MR data for neuroscientific research
• Development of new imaging methods for in vivo quantification of other MR of active cores in the brain, e.g. 23Na and 17O
• Development of high frequency multi-sectional coils for high-field MRT and for multimodal MR-PET imaging
• MR spectroscopy
