Neurotracer
About
The working group Neurotracer, led by Dr. Swen Humpert, focuses on the development and optimization of radiotracers specifically designed to investigate and elucidate complex neurobiological processes in the brain. A key aspect of this work is the creation of new and efficient synthesis methods to continuously expand the range of available neurotracers, enabling innovative approaches for studying the central nervous system.
The goal is to develop radiotracers with a high selectivity for neurobiologically relevant targets, such as receptors, transporters, enzymes, or protein aggregates, thereby providing detailed insights into both physiological and pathological processes in the brain. Apart from research into fundamental mechanisms of information processing in the human brain, these tracers can be used for the diagnosis and study of neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or multiple sclerosis.
