Nuclear data measurement

About

The Nuclear Data Measurement team led by Dr. Ingo Spahn focuses on the precise determination and analysis of nuclear reaction data. Apart from the measurement of production data for relevant radionuclides, this comprises the development of optimized target systems and sample preparation, including the recovery of isotopically enriched target materials.

Nuclear measurement techniques play a central role in this process, employing a variety of alpha, beta, and gamma spectrometry methods to investigate decay properties and excitation functions. These techniques enable in-depth studies of nuclear reactions and contribute to improving the data necessary for radionuclide production and characterization.

In addition, the team collaborates closely with other institutes and research facilities to conduct comprehensive measurements. These efforts not only expand the database of nuclear reaction data but also support activation studies and material research. The findings directly inform the optimization of production processes for radiotracers and the development of innovative applications in nuclear research and radiopharmacy.
