Structure-Function Relationships and Operando Characterization

Team Lead (interim)

About

In the Team “Structure-Function Relationships and Operando Characterization,” we investigate the relationship between the structural properties of chemical hydrogen storage molecules and the catalyst carrier materials on the atomic to mesoscale and the corresponding functional properties. The aim is to understand the mechanisms and processes under real reaction conditions. To this end, we use and develop advanced methods for operando characterization and interpret the fundamental understanding gained in the context of the performance of materials and devices.

Research Topics

  • Elucidation of structure-function relationships across atomic to mesoscale dimensions
  • Development of advanced operando characterization techniques for operating catalytic systems
  • Translation of multiscale structural aspects into high-performance catalyst and carrier molecule design
