High-Energy X-Ray Surface Diffraction

Team Lead (interim)

About

In the Team “High-Energy X-Ray Surface Diffraction”, we conceptualize and develop a variety of complementary surface-sensitive high-energy X-ray methods. We use these to investigate catalytic interfaces with up to subatomic resolution under reaction conditions. For example, we are developing novel concepts to perform measurement methods such as grazing incidence diffraction or reflectivity faster, in high throughput, for nanoscale samples, and combinatorially. Furthermore, we develop appropriate methods for data reduction and analysis, including advanced (big) data analytics tools, machine learning and related software.

Research Topics

  • Development of advanced high-energy X-ray surface diffraction techniques for operando and high-throughput research
  • Investigation of nanostructured catalytic interface in subatomic resolution
  • Innovative data reduction and analysis methodology to extract structural insights from complex datasets
