Model Systems and Equilibrium Properties
Team Lead (interim)
About
In the Team “Model Systems and Equilibrium Properties”, we conceptualize model systems of hydrogen storage molecules within solid-gas/liquid interface, which mimic the reaction conditions as realistically as possible. These model systems enable us to carry out highly precise and highly accurate measurements of the structural, morphological and chemical properties of the corresponding hydrogen storage molecules, especially under equilibrium conditions. The challenge then lies in interpreting the measurements and their results in the context of material and device performance. To this end, we are also developing new measurement and associated analysis methods, such as surface-sensitive X-ray absorption spectroscopy via surface decoration.
Research Topics
- Design and characterization of realistic model catalysis systems for hydrogen storage interfaces
- Development of surface-sensitive X-ray spectroscopies with surface decoration strategy
- Correlation of equilibrium properties with catalytic performance for mechanistic insights
