JSC @ Supercomputing Conference SC 26

SC26, the leading international exhibition and conference on high-performance computing, networking, storage, and analysis, will take place from 15 to 20 November 2025 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. JSC together with its partners from the Modular Supercomputing and Quantum Computing research group of the Goethe-University Frankfurt will present their diverse range of activities at JSC’s booth #2254.

This year is a special one for us, as the Jülich Supercomputing Centre will celebrate its 65th birthday, which happens to coincide with the conference week. Keep an eye out for our daily announcements on our social media channels to join our celebrations.

With 27 colleagues on site this year, the JSC is presenting itself under the slogan Unleashing Next-Gen Computing Power. Alongside topics such as HPC (Tools), Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, as well as European projects and collaborations, Europe's first exascale system JUPITER will once again be the focus of attention.

At our booth, we look forward to showing you our achievements in the field of supercomputing and quantum computing. One example ist JSC's Jülich UNified Infrastructure for Quantum computing (JUNIQ), which is unique worldwide and offers access to state-of the-art quantum systems. We are delighted to offer visitors the opportunity to programme our D-Wave Advantage™ System JUPSI, live via JUNIQ. In addition, our partners from the Goethe-University Frankfurt will present research and developments in the area of hybrid algorithms for modular supercomputing and quantum computing.

As part of the exhibition programme, JSC will present its accomplishments and plans in several EU-funded projects. This year’s event focusses on artificial intelligence, featuring updates and success stories relating to JSC's strategy and support in the filed of HPC for AI. In addition, JSC's in-house HPC tools like LLview, JUBE, and Scalasca as well as its support infrastructure will be demonstrated.

Particular highlights at SC26 will be the presentations of the ACM Gordon Bell finalists: This includes the paper “Architecture-Agnostic Exascale Star-by-Star Simulation of Our Galaxy”, to which JSC colleague Mathis Bode contributed. It will be presented in the ACM Gordon Bell Finalists Presentations (Tuesday, November 17th, 10:30am - 10:52am in room W181abc). As a finalist for the ACM Gordon Bell Prize for Climate Modelling, the paper “4D Parallelism Unlocks Exascale Bayesian Neural Networks for High-Fidelity Atmospheric Modeling” will be presented (Tuesday, November 17th, 3:30pm - 3:52pm, room W181abc). Involved were JSC researchers Mathis Bode, Andreas Herten and Chelsea John. Furthermore, the poster “JUNIQ Benchmark Suite: A Decade of Application Benchmarks on Quantum Computers” is among the SC26 poster finalists, featuring JSC colleagues Ashwin Kumar Karnad and Dennis Willsch. It will be on display during the poster session (Tuesday, November 17th, from 10:00am - 5:00pm, in the Skyline Ballroom North Pre-Function). The "best poster finalist presentations" will take place on Wednesday, 18th November (time t.b.d., room W185d).

Beyond that, the JSC is also involved in 11 workshops, six Birds of Feather, three panels, one tutorial and two talks.
