Artificial Intelligence to Support Regional Retailers

North Rhine-Westphalia’s project ON4OFF wants to create smarter links between brick-and-mortar retailers and their online offerings, and thus make the regional retail sector more competitive with online shops. The plan is to make this possible through the use of artificial intelligence. The necessary software is being developed at JSC. Over the next three years, the project will receive some € 2.1 million from North Rhine-Westphalia’s ministry of economy and the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE). Another € 1.2 million will be contributed by the project partners.

The project's objectives are

  • Research artificial intelligence solutions for retailers by using machine learning intertwined with adaptive case management
  • Improvement of shopping experience by shop customers in the retail sector
  • Promotion of a new culture of data sharing between retailers and consumers
  • Enabling of a smooth transition of data flow between online and offline customer data and shopping processes
  • Adaption of existing data and processes of Parfümerie Pieper and broadening concept to other branches and commercial sectors
