Award for Excellence: Borchers Medal for Thomas Schöb

We are delighted to congratulate our colleague and team lead Dr. Thomas Schöb on receiving the prestigious Borchers Medal from RWTH Aachen University. The award is presented to doctoral graduates who complete their dissertation with the highest honours (summa cum laude).

Thomas received this distinction for his doctoral thesis titled “Model-based Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Neutral Transformation Strategies for Germany.” He conducted his research as a doctoral candidate at our institute between 2019 and 2022 and successfully defended his thesis in 2024.

Today, Thomas leads our Energy Systems Transformation team, where he continues to contribute to shaping a climate-neutral future through cutting-edge modelling and policy-oriented research.

We are pleased that Thomas continues to contribute his expertise at our institute - now in a leadership role - and that his work has received such well-deserved recognition.
