Dr. Andreas Glüsen

Senior Scientist
Andreas Glüsen is senior scientist and project leader at the “Institute of Energy Technologies – Electrochemical Process Engineering (IET-4)”. Within the field of electrochemical processes – electrolysis, fuel cells, electrosynthesis – his focus is currently on PEM water electrolysis. Dr. Glüsen studied chemistry at Philipps Universität Marburg, Germany, where he continued studies to receive his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Wendorff with a thesis about photo-conducting liquid crystals (1998). As a post-doc he worked on electron transfer reactions in binuclear complexes in the group of Prof. Scandola at University of Ferrara (Italy). Since the year 2000 he is working on electrochemical processes at Forschungszentrum Jülich, first on direct methanol fuel cells, currently on PEM water electrolysis and other electrochemical processes. His research topics are characterization of materials and components, stability and performance of the components, especially under dynamic operating conditions and the acquisition and storage of measurement data in order to allow their utilization beyond the current research question.
