HyMethanol

In the HyMethanol project, biogenic CO₂ from iGas’s own gasification process (HyGas) is combined with renewable hydrogen and catalytically converted into green methanol. Methanol is a liquid chemical energy carrier that can be used as a synthetic fuel, a platform chemical, or a hydrogen carrier. Methanol offers the advantage that existing infrastructure for the storage, transport, and use of liquid fuels can largely continue to be utilized.

The goal is to develop a resource-efficient and integrated process to close the carbon cycle. The technical focus is on adapting methanol synthesis to biogenic gas streams, integrating the process into the existing HyGas plant, and optimizing energy efficiency, carbon utilization, and process stability.
