Funding awarded to investigate deep image data analysis for precision medical imaging

Following a recent call for proposals from the RWTH Aachen and Forschungszentrum Jülich, scientists in INM4 have been awarded a grant to fund a project entitled, ‘Deep Image Data Analysis for Precision Medical Imaging’.
The project will aim to develop the next generation of high-performance simulation and processing platforms, which will enable large amounts of currently unused raw data obtained using medical imaging methods to be processed.
It is anticipated that unlocking this currently unexplored raw data will aid disease diagnosis and improve the understanding of metabolic processes.
Initially, the platform will be developed and demonstrated for positron emission tomography (PET) and will then be used with other clinical research devices currently under development by the RWTH Aachen and Forschungszentrum Jülich for neuro-, whole-body and breast-imaging.
The project will run for 14 months and the grant will provide funding for workshops and other collaborative endeavours relating to the project.
