Abstract:

The Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (http://www.proteinatlas.org) was initiated in 2003, two years after the completion of the human genome projects. The mission of the HPA is to create a public accessible online resource that provides detailed information on the expression and distribution of all proteins in all major organs and tissues in health and disease.
Version 22 of the atlas was released in December 2022 and contains 12 sections that provide information on global protein expression in body and brain, cellular protein expression in different cell types and cell lines, the subcellular location of proteins in organelles, proteins in blood and immune cells, and proteins in cancers.
Dr. Jan Mulder will give an overview on the types of data presented on the human protein atlas and will illustrate how this data can be utilized to learn more about the biology and physiology of the brain.
