9.4T Animal Scanner
This unique animal scanner has been developed at the Forschungszentrum Jülich by combining components from different vendors with in-house hardware. The electronics consist of the standard Siemens TIM Trio cabinets, augmented by Resonance Research shim amplifiers; a 4-channel parallel transmit power amplifier, developed by Barthel HF; and circuitry from Bruker BioSpin and Forschungszentrum Jülich. It is based on the clinical syngoMR platform from Siemens, which has been adapted to suit small animal imaging. Thus, sequences developed on this scanner can be directly transferred to any Siemens' clinical MRI system. To our knowledge, this is the first 9.4T animal system with a clinical user interface and parallel transmit capability.
