Research Software Application classes, The FZJ Model

What are application classes and why do I need them?

Software developed at FZJ can be divided into four application classes (AC), depending on the type of use and distribution and the associated development status. The categorisation ranges from AK 0 (software that is only to be used within the own team or within the FZ Jülich) to AK 3 (software that is to be licensed to third parties and has a product character). Depending on the respective AC, certain minimum requirements and measures are recommended, which primarily relate to software development and documentation.

We've created a ready-to-use slide for your presentations and these application classes are taken from the FZJ software guidelines.

If you have any ideas about slides that we could create from the software guidelines or any other guidelines regarding research software, let us know by emailing Claire Wyatt.
