Forschungszentrum joins Linux Foundation

As of August 6, 2024, Forschungszentrum Jülich is now an associate member of the Linux Foundation (LF).

The LF is a non-profit organization founded in 2000 to support Linux development and open source software projects in general. In addition to providing a neutral, trusted hub for developers and organizations, the LF is dedicated to building sustainable ecosystems around open source software in order to accelerate technological development and support a transfer to the economy.

By joining the widely recognized LF, Forschungszentrum Jülich, together with the more than 1700 other LF members from science and industry, openly and visibly acknowledges the importance of open source software for science and society as well as of joint, inclusive and open software development. The center and its employees are now part of one of the most important, largest and most visible communities in this field, with access to the Foundation’s multiple services, including open source related training material and technical content, certification services and LF events.

Global participation of Forschungszentrum Jülich across LF open source projects, events, trainings and certifications will be organized through the LFX Organization Dashboard in the near future.
