This year – as a hybrid event – we had again our IBG-2 seminar series. On this occasion over 30 of our Doctoral Researcher and thus nearly all presented the status of their PhD projects and aimed for feedback from institute members, who usually are not involved in the project or the own working group. This event was fully organized by the Doctoral Researcher themselves and this year organization team (see picture) did a very good job. There have been sessions on: Biomass processing; Photosynthesis; Phenotyping & Remote Sensing; Sun-induced Fluorescence; Biotic plant interactions; Abiotic stress, Computational Biology, which demonstrates the broad spectrum of research performed in our institute. All sessions started with a short talk of one of our senior scientists, who introduced the general topic and gave an overview about the broader Research topic in our institute and was an excellent starting point for the Doctoral Researchers.

Further the audience was asked to give digital feedback to each speaker about the performance of the presenter (e.g., on being clear and concise in the talk and on the slides, starting with a good overview, being dedicated to the audience, answering questions in an adequate way). although the overall quality of the presentations this year was very good, there was a clear vote for one speaker as "best presenter": Stefan Sanow. He gave a very clear talk on: “Molecular mechanisms of microbe-enhanced plant performance under limited nitrogen”.
