In combination with our know-how in plant cell wall structure, we can adapt our reaction systems targeted towards the feedstock and application. Our goal is to correlate specific biomass features with processing efficiency and to develop application-oriented models for biomass processing. In our scientific endeavors, we apply the principles of green chemistry and engineering to allow for more sustainable biomass valorization strategies. Multiphasic, biomass pulping systems such as the OrganoCat process are designed to boost straightforward downstream process development by combining selective conversion with in situ extraction. We explore downstream options for cellulose and lignin refinement such as enzymatic digestion and anti-solvent fractionation.
