METIS

As part of the METIS (Methods and Models for Energy Transformation and Integration Systems) project, Forschungszentrum Jülich, in collaboration with partners from RWTH Aachen University and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, is developing open-source software tools for modelling, optimising and simulating current and future energy systems. The tools developed in METIS are being used to forecast the German and European energy systems up to the year 2050, based on a high proportion of renewable energies.
