CAMs AERosol Advancement - Advancement of the aerosol prediction

The CAMAERA project aims to improve aerosol forecasting within the framework of the CAMS project (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service). Among other things, new methods for calculating aerosol emissions are being developed in the projected and tested in the models of the CAMS multi-model ensemble. At ICE-3, two novel emission modules are being tested with the EURAD-IM. On the one hand, static ammonia emissions are replaced by an online emission module that considers agricultural activity, legal regulations and meteorological parameters. The main purpose of this adaptation is to improve the temporal resolution of the emissions. Secondly, dust emissions from roads, which were previously not included in the emissions data, are being added. With both extensions, the EURAD-IM’s prediction of aerosol concentrations and their spatio-temporal distribution is improved.
