JCNS Expands its Range of Instruments at the FRM II Outstation
January 11, 2013
JCNS is pleased to announce that, as from 1 January 2013, it is able to offer its users access to a further neutron scattering instrument: the cold source three axis spectrometer PANDA at the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) in Garching, near Munich, has joined the JCNS instrument group. Previously, the instrument was operated by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin. The number of instruments operated by JCNS at the FRM II outstation now adds up to 11. “PANDA is an excellent complement to the scientific programme at JCNS-2”, comments Prof. Thomas Brückel, Managing Director of JCNS.
Both Instrument Scientist Dr. Astrid Schneidewind and Instrument Engineer Florin George Stoica have also joined JCNS and will continue to act as the point of contact for users. The changeover will have no effect on the use of the instrument; it remains available to scientists working in Germany and abroad just as before. Proposals requesting beam time can be submitted online at https://fzj.frm2.tum.de and will be dealt with twice per year. The next proposal deadline for beam time allocation is 25 January, 2013.
