JuRSE Code of the Month - September 2025
Each month we highlight a code from Forschungszentrum Jülich and this month's code is co-developed at the Institute for Bio- and Geosciences - Plant Sciences (IBG-2).

JEMRIS
JEMRIS, the Jülich Extensible MRI Simulator, is an extensible MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) simulation framework which provides an MRI sequence development and simulation environment for the MRI community. The development was driven by the desire to achieve generality of simulated 3D MRI experiments reflecting modern MRI systems hardware. It is well-suited for research and education.

JuRSE selected highlights
The developers put a strong focus on usability and interoperability: they rely on established libraries like CVODE from Sundials and GiNaC, but also on community data formats like Pulseq and the ISMRM Raw Data Format. This makes collaboration beyond the team of developers much easier, enabling contributions and usage from a broader range of scientists across institutions. The software is accompanied by a dedicated research software paper.
