DAAD-RISE Germany

RISE stands for Research Internships in Science and Engineering. RISE Germany offers research internships at universities and non-university research institutions in Germany to bachelor’s students from North America, the UK, and Ireland. RISE Germany is funded by the Federal Foreign Office and through collaborations.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports the three-month summer research internships with scholarships that are funded by the Federal Foreign Office and through collaborations with the relevant institutions. A total of more than 300 scholarships are available each year.
The students must have completed at least the second year of their undergraduate course at a North American, British, or Irish university and must have supported doctoral researchers in their experimental work.

Funding: DAAD’s full scholarship comprises a monthly support payment of € 861, an international travel allowance, health, accident, and liability insurance, travel expenses of € 160 to participate in RISE meetings, and coverage of costs for a three-day gathering of scholarship holders in Heidelberg (July 2022).
1 September – 15 October 2022: Internship offers uploaded to the DAAD database by doctoral researchers
1 November – 15 December 2022: Database opened for interested students to apply for the internships online
17 January – 31 January 2023: Ranking of applicants
March 2023 (at the latest): Announcement of RISE internship positions
