DAAD-WISE
Placements for Bachelor’s Students of Engineering and Natural Sciences from India

This programme is aimed at Indian bachelor’s students of engineering and natural sciences who would like to undertake a research internship at a German university or non-university research institution.
Overview of the most important details:
- Those interested in the programme must be affiliated with one of the selected universities (list attached) and enrolled in an engineering, mathematics, or natural sciences course.
- Participants also need to be in the 5th or 6th semester of a 4-year bachelor’s programme or in the 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th semester of a 5-year integrated programme or a dual degree (bachelor’s–master’s) programme.
- Students who have already claimed a WISE scholarship cannot make another application.
- Applicants must be Indian citizens.
Scholarship benefits and duration of funding:
- 2 to 3 months (May - August)
- Monthly allowance of € 861
- Travel allowance of € 1,050
- Health, accident, and personal liability insurance
Please note: As part of this programme, applicants must search for a placement themselves. As many institutes have established cooperation agreements and contacts with India, it is recommended that Indian partners be informed about this possibility so as to strengthen cooperation and identify suitable candidates.
Deadlines: The DAAD portal will be open for applications from Indian students from around 1 September. The deadline for applications is 16 October.
