EU-Funded Projects (2015-2022)
SoNDe
The SoNDe detector project received roughly 4 Million Euros from Horizon 2020, the European Union Framework Program for Research and Innovation. The JCNS group is coordinating the project among ESS, Lund University, LLB, and Integrated Detector Electronics, a private company in Norway.

BrightnESS
The management of such complex infrastructure with contributions from so many different partners is a real challenge and a risk for the entire ESS project. BrightnESS is a European Union-funded project within the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme designed to ensure that key challenges are met in order to build an ESS that can deliver high-impact scientific and technological knowledge. It involves a partnership of several European nations working together to build the world’s next-generation neutron science facility.

SINE2020
The project “Science and Innovation with Neutrons in Europe” (SINE2020) funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union, and was set up based on two objectives: preparing Europe for the unique opportunities at the ESS and developing the innovation potential of neutron LSFs. Its success will enable the ESS to serve the scientific community from the start.
