Woche der Umwelt 2021 - We were there!
Under the motto "This is how the future works!" Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the German Federal Foundation for the Environment invited to the “Woche der Umwel” on June 10 and 11. The IBG-2 was among the 150 WdU-certified exhibitors with two contributions.
Due to the Corona pandemic, the sixth Woche der Umwelt (WdU) took place online. After the opening by the Federal President on Thursday, June 10, a two-day program started on a main stage in the park of Bellevue Palace as well as in digital expert forums. Both the discourses on the main stage and the expert forums were streamed live (https://www.youtube.com/user/BundesstiftungUmwelt). Topics ranged from efficient heat use and a comprehensive circular economy, to climate neutrality and energy transition, sustainable capital investments and mobility.
More than 150 exhibitors - including companies, research institutes, clubs and associations - were specially selected by a jury of experts appointed by the German President for the Week of the Environment to show their commitment to environmental protection - and all aspects related to it: from climate, energy and resources, to soil and biodiversity, to construction, housing and mobility.
The IBG-2 had the chance to show two contributions. The contribution "BioeconomyREVIER - Dialogue and research for a sustainable design of the lignite phase-out" describes how bioeconomic value creation concepts can support the structural change required by the coal phase-out (https://www.woche-der-umwelt.de/ausstellerKonkret/1626).
In addition, the IBG-2 had the opportunity to participate at the BMBF exhibition with the topic "Sustainable Use of resources through innovative research – above- and belowground - above and below ground. Adaptation of plants to climate change" (https://www.woche-der-umwelt.de/ausstellerKonkret/1519).
