FZJ and TSI Incorporated – a collaboration between science and industry

Originally developed for IAGOS measurement systems, the collaboration with TSI Incorporated has opened up a wide range of applications for a novel method of detecting nanoparticles.

Based on an initiative by researchers at ICE-3, a solution was developed that has led to a collaboration between Forschungszentrum Jülich and the US measurement technology company TSI Incorporated. The partnership with the measurement technology specialist, which has its European headquarters in Aachen, aims to develop a market-ready product that uses a novel process to reliably visualise airborne particles – more simply, more precisely and more efficiently than ever before.

Three articles in Endeavours, the magazine on innovation at FZ Jülich, highlight various aspects of this industrial cooperation.

The new optical system for monitoring air quality in industry and research is described in more detail in the FZJ success stories.
