Rapid access for research on coronavirus SARS-CoV-2
In order to contribute to the research on the corona virus SARS-CoV-2, JCNS has decided to offer its instruments via a special proposal round with privileged access, giving them priority over all other applications for beam time. To this respect, regular proposal rounds would imply too long waiting to access the JCNS instruments, and therefore all interested scientists are kindly invited to submit their experiment proposal to the JCNS User Office per email (useroffice@mlz-garching.de) without any pre-defined template and without any deadline. Submitted proposals will be assessed as soon as possible to ensure access to the instrument during the next reactor cycle.
The Jülich Centre for Neutron Science JCNS offers access to dedicated neutron scattering instruments at:
Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ) in Garching, Germany,
Institute Laue Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, France,
Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) in Oak Ridge, USA.
In order to apply for beam time, you are invited to submit a proposal. The MLZ international panel reviews the submitted proposals twice per year, and recommends the beam time allocation on the basis of their scientific merit. JCNS offers beam time at its MLZ instruments to scientists from all over the world regardless of the country in which they are conducting their research, while beam time at the ILL and SNS instruments is provided to German affiliated users only.
We encourage worldwide users to apply for beam time at the JCNS instruments at MLZ. The CALL FOR PROPOSALS file will soon be available here for download.
Detailed information on how to get and use the beamtime at the JCNS outstations is available through this website or using the following links:
