Cassava Initiative

Cassava Initiative

Some plant species are crucial to global food security. Cassava, also known as manioc, is vital for the survival of around 800 million people. Its stable and yield-optimized cultivation is of strategic importance for food security, but also for the bioeconomy on three continents.

In the CASSAVA activities, the IBG-2 is pooling its expertise in phenotyping, physiology and breeding to help secure regional food supplies.
